Chorus:

The Pharisees and the Sadducees came to test my Lord,

They came to trap him in what he said, They came to twist his

words. But Jesus saw them for what they were, for him ‘twas

plain to see.  He knew they’re men with empty hearts…

Sometimes like you and me.

1.Here’s a man and he has a coin, this tax must I pay.  Here’s

a man who says all his time is spent working for a wage.  Jesus

said you must give to man only what is due. But give to God

what is God’s, and God… my friend wants you.

2. A woman marries seven times, which husband when she

dies?  A girl with cancer lays in bed, she turns her head and

cries.  But Jesus says you are misled you fail to understand.

You’ll live as angels when you’re raised now come… come take

my hand.

3. “Teacher, what’s the greatest law?” a lawyer asked my

Lord.  “The world is tough,” a young one says, “How can I

survive?” “Love your God with your whole heart and your

neighbor as yourself.  For these two laws are all you need, on

these… all others rest.

Final Chorus:

The Pharisees and the Sadducees, and today, you and me; we

cannot trap him with his words, in fact, they set us free!  And

so my friends it’s plain to see what we all must do.  Give to God

what is God’s and God… my friend wants you.
